  • The Urge | Move Ostrava

THE URGE What movement fits between the bed and the wardrobe? Can you dance a classic variation at the kitchen counter? Or remember the release technique on the balcony? Lock-down. Impossibility to go out, to the ballroom, the theater, meet the audience or other dancers, family or friends. In the spring of 2020, social networks were flooded with home videos, which are a testimony to the desire of dancers and choreographers to dance and stay in touch, stay visible. Choreographer Ceren Oran chose several of them as inspiration for her latest project "The Urge" , which she deliberately placed in public space . "For me, dancing in a public space means getting rid of a comfortable theater environment, going to the market with your skin and addressing, above all, those potential viewers who would otherwise not come to contemporary dance in any case. I believe in the fascinating, contagious and inspiring power of contemporary dance and I am deeply convinced that dance should be accessible to everyone - anytime, anywhere." (Ceren Oran) "The Urge" draws inspiration from the frustrating experience of a year-and-a-half-long pandemic and isolation and transforms it into something highly vital, contagious in the best sense of the word - in the sharing of joy, energy, fascination with movement, in the intense sharing of a moment in direct contact with the viewer in public space. Ceren Oran's choreography combines energetic, synchronized dance passages with distinctive improvised solos by individual experienced dancers. Their dynamics and the changing rhythm of the entire work are determined by the pulsating electronic music of longtime collaborator Oran and the live improvisation of saxophonist Marcela Kučová. This ecstatic combination heightens the tension between dancers and musicians, individual and mass. Her approach is typical for its spontaneity, animality and testing the viability of the human body. The content of the lessons is based on contemporary approaches to dance and the Fighting Monkeys Practice method, which Katarína is currently studying under the guidance of Jozef Fruček. Lessons are designed to everyone who wants to discover and advance the possibilities of their body and mind . It will significantly expand the movement repertoire for theater and dance professionals, and it will deepen the relationship and communication with one's own body for laymen and movement enthusiasts. Each lesson will focus on one of the approaches below, but for the most comprehensive experience, it is recommended to participate in all three. Articulation of the joints serves as exercise hygiene and injury prevention. During it, you will learn to map your body in detail, get to know its architecture and test the level of stress on your joints. Floor work includes active work of the body in relation to the floor, develops coordination and movement patterns and principles supporting the quality of movement on the floor. Body coordination and rhythm by developing the space between the joints and their mutual connection. Through coordination, we not only test learning strategies, but also challenge and improve our ability to be rhythmic and coordinated in our lives. By coordinating, we stabilize multidirectional forces in different planes, improve cognitive complexity and physical fatigue. Without proper coordination and rhythm, we cannot move in the world. Improvisation supports the development of movement vocabulary and creative thinking. Through improvisation we are in a constant process of discovering who we are, in a constant process of our evolution. Movement games/situations allow us to handle challenges in relation to the external environment. It teaches us to look for solutions in dialogue, to adapt, to discover. KATARÍNA MATÚŠOVÁ M.Sc. Art. Katarína Matúšová is a dance teacher, artist and choreographer. In his movement and dance practice, she devotes herself research training methods and movement approaches in the field of contemporary dance, movement and creation. She likes to travel to get inspiration, learn and share experiences about life, art, movement and sport. Contemporary CONTEMPORARY DANCE During his lessons of Contemporary Dance Slovak performance art matador Daniel Raček will share with you short movement phrases based on basic principles of inverted body positions, especially with the release of the shoulder joints and the correct position of the skeletal system (alignment). You will practice confidence in your own body during the lessons through simple exercises. The result will be work with different positions (stands on the shoulders, on the hands, on one hand, miller's wheels, shifts of the center of gravity) and their variants. You will then use this when practicing in open forms (improvised) with one or more partners. The lesson is intended for intermediate or beginners , who already have experience with movement. We recommend comfortable clothes and drinks. DANIEL RAČEK During his younghood Daniel Raček was fascinated by folk dance, its dynamism, spontaneity and social dances. During almost 30 years in the field of contemporary dance, he collaborated with many Slovak and foreign directors and choreographers. He has long-term and intensive cooperation with Debris Company (Bratislava), RootlessRoot company (Athens) and Karen Foss Quiet Works (Oslo). Since 2014, he has been working and teaching in the association Neskorý sber (Bratislava), whose work is characterized by open forms and progressive methods of creation and research. His creative-research projects go beyond the boundaries of science and art (quantum physics, embryology, geometry and architecture). In his teaching practice, he focuses on the principles of contemporary dance with a special focus on inverted body positions and modern partnerships . In 2006, he was awarded the prize for the best performance in contemporary dance - Philip Morris/Kvet Baletu. He is a graduate of MFF UK and VŠMU in Bratislava. Partnring PARTNERING Lesson of partnering with Jana Ryšlavá and Daniel Raček is built in the spirit of movement and dance, focused on playfulness, the joy of body communication, capturing the moment and action and reaction. Dancers will refine finesse and focus on detail here, acroyogis will gain plasticity and a lot of new connecting elements to flow. The lesson is not suitable for complete beginners, it is intended for bodies experienced with movement. Bring to class: Comfortable clothes, rather long pants and sleeves, that does allow to move freely, no zippers and studs (and jewelry), drinks. YOGA Enter the pad and find time just for yourself, your body and your mind. Lessons of hatha yoga with Jana Ryšlavá are focused on the breath and a slow warm-up and strengthening. In the middle part of the lesson, we will focus on rotations and positions supporting the function of the gallbladder, the correct function of which helps us get rid of unpleasant feelings. Together with the coming spring, it will help us wake up and revitalize the body. The lesson is suitable for intermediate and beginners , who were already engaged in some kind of movement. For each asana, Jana presents an easier variant and also adds options for more difficult variants. We recommend bringing your own mat and comfortable clothing that does allow to move freely, a blanket or a sweatshirt for final relaxation. JANA RYŠLAVÁ Jana Ryšlavá is a dance and movement teacher, performer and cultural manager in the field of movement arts. She graduated Experimental Academy of Dance in Salzburg and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. • Workshop acropartneringu | Move Ostrava

PROGRAM SATURDAY March 19 9:30 - 12:30 Studio Yogista, Lower Vítkovice, Ostrava BUY TICKETS PRAKTICKÉ INFORMACE O LEKTORECH Recycling in motion is about free inspiration from the magical world of coaching aimed at self-development and their integration into contemporary dance training. For dance, they provide the possibility to work with the continuity of movement, relaxation and tension in a new way, but last but not least, they allow us to model the image of an endless, emerging and disappearing bodily manifestation. Man as a pendulum, as a researcher, as a desire that does not stop, as a fragile mass and at the same time still safe. The workshop is intended for both dancers and dance enthusiasts as well as anyone who has experience with movement. It is great for professional dancers, students of dance schools, but also for anyone who processes a lot of pressure in the work process. This is a lot of tension these days, great to be able to process not only in the head, but also with the body. The workshop deals with processing pressure for performance in movement, working with energy. The goal is to help participants stay efficient and accurate and not spend more than necessary. You will also be expected to work with tension and efficiency. Své zkušenosti čerpáme z akrobacie, tance, kontaktní improvizace, pohybových metod a přístupů i performing skills." Březnový Workshop partneringu ocení všichni, kteří chtějí do své práce s partnerem vnést hravost, překonávat společně strach a užívat si radost z propojování pohybu. "For a long time, I have been engaged in creative research on the dialogue between dance and functional movement. I am inspired by examples of different physicality, not only the one that I come to as a dancer through the techniques of contemporary dance. I am interested in what functional movement offers in the process of composing choreography, and at the same time I am researching self-maintenance techniques, ways dealing with energy, effort and work with a concrete physical experience as a starting point for the creation of dance material." Lukáš Bobalík Jindřich Panský Jindřich Panský je zakládajícím členem renomované Losers cirque Je bývalým reprezentantem České republiky ve sportovní gymnastice. V současné době se věnuje především tanci a akrobacii, které úspěšně kombinuje v řadě divadelních představení: se soubory Losers Cirque Company (Losers, Walls and Handbags, Beach Boys, Kolaps, Ego, Heroes), Burki&Com., Národní divadlo (Billy Budd, Láska ke třem pomerančům), Galerie Rudolfinum a nebo Krajina Těla z produkce Laterny magiky. • The Urge | Move Ostrava

CHARON Radoslav Piovarči, Paulína Šmatláková TUESDAY 15, NOVEMBER 7 PM Janáček Conservatory Ostrava V RÁMCI FESTIVALU BREAD&DANCE Přijďte s námi zažít veřejný prostor jinak a vykročit z tak z rutinní každodennosti. Lock-down. "For me, dancing in a public space means getting rid of a comfortable theater environment, going to the market with your skin and addressing, above all, those potential viewers who would otherwise not come to contemporary dance in any case. I believe in the fascinating, contagious and inspiring power of contemporary dance and I am deeply convinced that dance should be accessible to everyone - anytime, anywhere." (Ceren Oran) “The Urge” čerpá inspiraci z frustrujícího zážitku rok a půl trvající pandemie a odloučení a transformuje ji v cosi vysoce vitálního, v nejlepším slova smyslu nakažlivého - ve sdílení radosti, energie, fascinaci pohybem, v intenzivní sdílení okamžiku v přímém kontaktu s divákem ve veřejném prostoru. PROGRAM SATURDAY March 19 9:30 - 12:30 Studio Yogista, Lower Vítkovice, Ostrava BUY TICKETS Recycling in motion is about free inspiration from the magical world of coaching aimed at self-development and their integration into contemporary dance training. "For a long time, I have been engaged in creative research on the dialogue between dance and functional movement. I am inspired by examples of different physicality, not only the one that I come to as a dancer through the techniques of contemporary dance. I am interested in what functional movement offers in the process of composing choreography, and at the same time I am researching self-maintenance techniques, ways dealing with energy, effort and work with a concrete physical experience as a starting point for the creation of dance material." Lukáš Bobalík The workshop will take place in the Jogista studio, which you can find in Dolní Vítkovice - above the Etáž bar, opposite the Cokafe cafe on the 2nd floor. The best way to get there is by tram to the Důl Hlubina stop, on foot over the footbridge at Nová Karolina, or by car to the parking lot on Vítkovická Street.
