What kind of future do we envision not only for ourselves but also for our children and grandchildren? What do we want to pass on to them? And are we capable of doing so?
These and other questions are explored in the solo performance by Slovak performer Soňa Ferienčíková, created in collaboration with choreographer Jaro Viňarský. IHOPEIWILL addresses the pressing topic of collective futures against the backdrop of current political tensions and the deepening climate crisis. Despite the gravity of the situation, the performance conveys a sense of anticipation and hope.
IHOPEIWILL is a work that combines physical performance, professional sound design crafted by producers Never Sol and Alexandra Timpau, and sophisticated visual installations and light design. Each of these mediums functions independently yet synergistically, creating an impressive and organic whole.
The creation was inspired by interviews in which the authors asked respondents about their personal family environments and intergenerational relationships. What kind of future do we envision not only for ourselves but also for the generations to come? What kind of world do we wish for them, and what can or are we willing to do to fulfill these wishes?
Thus, IHOPEIWILL has become an artistic reflection of the current trajectory of society and our responsibility toward future generations.
