"As soon as a woman becomes aware of conception, she ceases to be an individual, but an inhabited multitude."
Joan Raphael-Leff
We all began life in the body of another human being - immersed in a systemic exchange, absorbing nutrients from the mother's body as well as hormonal derivatives of emotions, while simultaneously expelling our biological waste through her bodily openings. In the words of psychoanalyst Joan Raphael-Leff, this fundamental experience of intercorporeality, where "self" and "non-self" exist in connection, opens up space for deep reflection on how our initial connections influence our entire lives.
Every movement reflects a dialogue between someone and something that is yet to come, while also bidding farewell to someone we used to be. The complex dynamics of bold and sensitive interactions in a shared space inhabited simultaneously by the past and the future. What impact does the experience of shared existence have on a woman? And how does her body inhabit during this process?Bodies in Progress will be exclusively presented only during the period from April to July 2024, between the 22nd and 38th week of Martina Hajdyla Lacová's pregnancy. Each presentation is therefore a unique event.
