We are entering 2026 with a programme packed with movement, dance, international guests, and powerful themes of today. Expect workshops, premieres, returns of Ostrava-based artists, and top-tier international projects. Are you in with us?

The programme for January–May 2026 is now available on our website and social media, and tickets for all events are on sale.

January: MOVEment Intensive | 10.–11. 1. 2026, Janáčkova konzervatoř

We are opening the year with a weekend for everyone who wants not only to watch movement, but also to experience and understand it. The first MOVEment Intensive of 2026 offers two three-hour workshops led by Mates Petrák - mime and the so-called School of Falls, a training focused on physical work with the body - as well as two hatha yoga classes with Jana Ryšlavá. You can attend any number of sessions, but when purchasing tickets for both the Saturday and Sunday sessions with the same lecturer (i.e. both of Mates’s workshops or both of Jana’s classes), we offer a discounted price and a more comprehensive movement experience 😉

This January weekend, focused on breath, attention, silence, rhythm, and falling, is open to professionals as well as curious non-professionals. We look forward to seeing you.

February: Tout/Rien – Belgian magic show | 11. 2. 2026, Barrák Music Club

One of the most compelling European solo projects in contemporary object and physical theatre is coming to Ostrava. Belgian performer Alexis Rouvre will present his minimalist and hypnotic performance Tout/Rien (Everything/Nothing). Expect an immersive and magical show that will transform your perception of time, space, falling, and attention—for at least an hour, perhaps forever.

Don’t miss this one and only performance in Ostrava. We promise a fragile yet intense and exceptionally powerful audience experience.

February: Carpe(t) Diem Reloaded – FUTUREUM | 20. 2. 2026

In 2026, we will of course continue with our popular site-specific format. This time, already in February, with two performative walks through the industrial complex FUTUREUM, connecting movement, acrobatics, architecture, and the history of Ostrava. If you missed this beautiful experience full of movement and unique industrial heritage this year, don’t hesitate to reserve your spot. Due to the unusual spaces of the former coal mill, capacity is very limited and tickets tend to sell out quickly.

March: RUMBLE – premiere | 5. a 6. 3. 2026, Studio G

Ostrava native Mates Petrák is returning home with the premiere of his new solo RUMBLE, which is being created right at this very moment. Yes—right now, as you’re reading this post, Mates is hard at work refining his next physical, personal, and fierce performance about finding one’s own path, the pressure of originality, and the struggle with one’s own role models.

TIP: A reminder that all four previous performances of Mates’s last project Memento Mori at Studio G were completely sold out, so we strongly recommend getting your ticket to the RUMBLE premiere in advance (in other words, before Mates’s friends buy them all)!

April: Kitchen Porn (Kuchyňské porno) | 24. 4. 2026, Divadlo loutek

A Prague theatre bestseller is coming to Ostrava! Don’t miss one of the most discussed contemporary performances addressing womanhood, stereotypes, and social pressure.

Kitchen Porn dissects the myth of the “perfect housewife” with irony and precision, opening up topics that usually remain beneath the surface. The project brings together some of the most distinctive voices of the Czech cultural and social scene (dramaturgically Miřenka Čechová, directed by Bára Viceníková, with expert discourse by Šárka Homfray…), who- together with a duo of performers - shatter the rose-tinted glasses of societal expectations, not only about women, but also about everything that simmers beneath the surface between dishes and demands.

Come and see a performance that combines irony, absurdity, and visually powerful imagery - one that will not only make you laugh, but also compel you to look at the world around you differently. With perspective, and with a question you might prefer to keep to yourself.

MOVE Ostrava beyond Ostravu

In 2026, MOVE Ostrava projects will once again travel beyond their home base—to tours, festivals, guest performances, residencies, and networking and showcase events. In the first months of the year, you can meet us:

Tickets for Everyone

Because we at MOVE believe that culture should be accessible, tickets for most performances are offered in a Pay What You Can format - allowing you to choose from five price options according to your current financial situation and your willingness to support the artists and our work. (Exceptions include workshops, for which we offer discounted packages and price tiers based on the scope of the sessions, and performances in public space, which remain traditionally free of charge.)

A new feature for 2026 is the Donor Ticket. Purchasing it is a simple way to support both us and the performers a little more, and to help us create future projects with greater freedom, calm, and less budget-related stress. Thanks to these tickets, we can keep prices low for others, pay artists fairly, and continue developing a programme that truly makes sense.

So 2026 is not only about movement, focus, and powerful experiences - it is also about a fairer and more open cultural model, in which everyone can choose what role they want to play with us 😉 Thank you for that.
