Eye'm at the 66 hours festival in Košice through the eyes of Michaela Králiková

The Eye’m project returned to the 66 Hours Festival after two years! It was here – specifically in Smolník – where its journey began in 2024. This year, it returned in a new form, shaped by two years of development, experimentation and research. We are very happy that this opportunity allowed us to close this symbolic circle and present the project once again in the environment where its story first began.
During this year's 66 Hours Festival in Košice, Eye'm became one of its leitmotifs. Our eyes accompanied the festival in several places and in various situations - from a comprehensive performance in the courtyard of Tabačka Kulturfabrik to short unexpected entries within the festival program.
In Tabačka we returned to the format we already know – discovering eyes in various situations and corners of the cultural center. However, this time we felt much more strongly how important it is to work with the mood and energy of the audience. Even though we can prepare a route and various scenarios, the moment when the eye appears cannot be completely planned. Sometimes you need to step into the action, sometimes you need to wait. It is this sensitive “psychology” of the group and the search for the moment of surprise that became an important part of our further research.
A completely new experience was brought to us by a performative walk in Kavečany, where we first planted the eye in the landscape. Instead of detail, architecture and immediate proximity, we started working with the horizon, distance and the overall picture of the environment. We suddenly saw that the eye could also function as a tool to focus attention on the landscape itself, thereby naturally opening up the environmental layer of the project. At the same time, the landscape showed us the strong visual potential of Eye'm. Therefore, during the festival, we started to work more intensively with photography and short video and think about how the project could also exist outside of a live meeting with the audience.
We take away from the festival mainly three new directions for further research: more sensitive work with the audience , the relationship of the eye to the landscape and environmental themes , and its potential to transcend from performance to visual art .
