You don't have to be a dancer. You don't have to have experience with public performance. All you need is a desire to experience contemporary dance from the other side and, together with professional artists, create a unique Ostrava version of the performance Veľký nádych (The Big Breath).
For the launch of this year's MOVE Fest, we are looking for approximately 30 women of various ages who will become part of a large-format movement-music-art performance by the Slovak ensemble Debris Company. The project connects professional contemporary dance with the community and is created anew in each city with local participants. Therefore, in Ostrava, there will not be a mere copy of an existing performance, but we will create an unique piece specifically for MOVE Fest 2026 , for a specific location, for the Ostrava audience and, above all, with Ostrava women.
What awaits you?
The Big Breath is inspired by Ivan Štrpka's poetry collection The Big Breath: Psychopolis, Thin Ice and was created in cooperation with the international contemporary dance festival Bratislava in Motion. Together with choreographer Stanislava Vlk Vlčeková and professional performers, you will go through several days of workshops and rehearsals. You will work with your body, movement and voice, search for your own authentic movement expression and gradually "tune int o the same wave" together. The meeting of professional artists with women of different ages and experiences is one of the basic principles of the entire project.
The result will be a large joint performance, which we will open MOVE Fest Ostrava 2026 on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 PM. We will present it in the impressive premises of the former Ostravica-Textilia department store where dozens of female bodies, movement and architecture will connect with the music of a live string trio.
When do you need to be available?
Participation requires involvement in the entire process, so please take into account all the deadlines below before registering:

19. 9. | all day – rehearsal
20. 9. | all day – rehearsal
21. 9. | 18:00–21:00 – evening rehearsal
22. 9. | 18:00–21:00 – evening rehearsal
23. 9. | 14:00–17:00 – preparation + 18:00 performance
