The year 2025 was a turning point for MOVECast. The podcast, created out of a need to talk about movement, creation, and the (not only) Czech and Slovak dance scene, once again found a significantly wider audience - above all, an audience that wants to listen attentively. And for that, we thank you very much 💛

What do the numbers say?

According to Spotify Wrapped for Podcasters, in 2025 you listened to us with:

  • 13% increase in total audience

  • 966% increase in new listeners

  • 36% increase in followers

In 2025, MOVECast reached completely new audiences more than ever before—also beyond the borders of the Czech Republic. Alongside Czechia, our strongest listener bases included Slovakia, Germany, Spain, and Canada.

Which episode resonated the most?

The most successful episode of the year was Episode 36 with Andrej Lyga. Perhaps also because Andrej almost never speaks publicly anywhere 😉 Which made the moment when he decided to step into the spotlight even more powerful - right after the Ostrava reprise of his solo Pohádka pro odvážné (A Fairy Tale for the Brave), directly in front of an audience, without preparation, without a role.

You can listen to his conversation with Anna Bangoura about fear, the shaping of art, shyness, and vulnerability here 👉 #36 Andrej Lyga on how fear shapes art and inspires courage.

A Christmas gift: MOVECast on screen for the first time

At the end of the year, we even treated you to our very first video podcast. A special episode with Michal Mudrák introduced a new format, a new rhythm, and another layer of the MOVE experience. MOVECast thus appeared for the first time not only as a voice, but also as a face-to-face encounter. You can watch the video version of the conversation about the journey from an Ostrava housing estate to one’s own big top on our Vimeo account or on Spotify 🎧

MOVECast tips from the MOVE team

Jana recommends:

🎧 An interview with Slovak performer Soňa Ferienčíková, radiating admirable calm, inner strength, and the courage to create despite the relentless attacks by political opponents of her politically engaged partner.

🎧 And, of course, Andrej Lyga: “Watching him overcome his shyness about public interviews and open up with such depth was an exceptional moment.”

Klárka recommends:

🎧 Episode 41 with cultural manager Markéta Málková, who shared inspiring experiences from abroad and her return to the region. “I admire the energy with which she supports international projects outside major cultural centres,” adds Klárka, MOVE’s social media manager.

🎧 She also mentions Øystein Elle, who spoke with infectious enthusiasm about connecting theatre for the very young with activism for adults.

Viky recommends:

🎧 Øystein Elle for his ability to connect genres and ways of thinking across different worlds.

🎧 Soňa Ferienčíková as an example of immense personal strength despite everything she has been going through.

🎧 Bětka Tichá and her fascination with circus and movement as such.

Luc recommends:

🎧 A special episode with Claudia A. Marsicano and Janka Ryšánek Schmiedtová—a recording of a discussion that took place immediately after the Ostrava performance of the solo R.Osa, in which the three women talk about the body, ego, stereotypes, body shaming, and the absurdities connected to them.

MOVECast in 2025 wasn’t just about growth. It was about trust, the courage to speak out loud, and the willingness to go deeper. Thank you for being with us, and we look forward to more conversations that won’t leave things on the surface, but will set them in motion 🤸🏼‍♂️
