MOVE Ostrava has been bringing contemporary dance, new circus and movement theatre to the city for more than ten years. It connects Czech and foreign artists with Ostrava and its audiences - in theatres and places where you might not expect a performance at all. Dance does not have to stay only on the stage. It can appear in a square, at a train station, in a former factory, in a park or on a heap. And for a moment, change the place we normally just walk past.
The exhibition Ostrava in Motion captures several years of these encounters. Bodies in motion. Artists and spectators. Well-known Ostrava places in unexpected situations. Moments from MOVE Fest and other MOVE Ostrava events.
Photographer Kamil Hauptmann from KHFOTO.CZ has been accompanying MOVE Ostrava with his lens for many years. Thanks to this, he not only documents individual performances and events, but also preserves memories of moments full of energy, details, emotions and moments that existed only briefly on stage or in public space.
"For me, photographing MOVE does not mean simply taking a reportage, but on the contrary, with respect for the dancers and performers, I add my subjective impressions and feelings from the performance to the photographs. I believe that it is this trace of personal experience that makes the images something more than just a picture of dance."
Look. Stop. Get moving.
