EYE'M

Eye'm is a movement-performative installation designed primarily for public spaces, with a strong ability to adapt to the environment of galleries and cultural centers. The central element is a large eye - a headpiece worn by the performer, which creates surreal, slightly absurd figures. These figures move through the space, exploring it and subtly redirecting the audience's attention to details that usually go unnoticed.

The project was created as part of the Reimagining Realities art residency, implemented under the auspices of the Tabačka Kulturfabrik center in Košice in 2024. The output of the residency was a performative pop-up in the form of a work-in-progress, which the performers presented during the immersive 66 hours festival.

The original impulse was to create a sense of trust and safety within the larger festival community. The eye was not intended to be seen at the time, and it was this “non-functionality”, which gradually transformed into fragility, that opened up a playful space for exploring shared responsibility, spatial perception and interaction with the viewer. The eye does ultimately “see”, but only to a limited extent, but its vulnerability remains a key element of the whole experience.

Since then, we have been developing the project in different contexts and its form remains open. As part of the ongoing research, we have had the opportunity to test our concept in several different environments – as a performative intervention in public space, as a guide to an exhibition at the ACMC Conference Vienna , and as an experimental performance with a hint of narrative structure presented at the XVI. Prague Microfestival . Each of these presentations represents for us not only a sharing of the outputs so far, but above all a way to further verify, develop and open the project to new questions and directions.
