MEGASTRUCTURE is a hypnotic duet that pulls you into an unrelenting, physical exploration of a relationship. Every touch, every move is exactly where it needs to be. Wordless, but full of meaning.
Dancers Sarah Baltzinger and Isaiah Wilson have stripped their duet of everything we usually expect on stage. There’s no dazzling light design, no elaborate set, no music in the background. And yet – nothing is missing. Quite the opposite. The performers resemble puppets, machines, lovers and opponents all at once. As their bodies keep falling apart and fitting back together, all you can do is hold your breath.
The piece was created in rural Ireland, far from civilisation and modern technology. These rare conditions allowed the artists to dig deep into the essence of movement and expression. And yet, their deep connection, perfect synchronicity, and playful humour remind us we’re still watching two human beings interact.
This exceptional performance – internationally acclaimed and part of the Aerowaves Twenty24 selection – will be presented in the magical atmosphere of Farská zahrada in the heart of Ostrava. Under the open sky, where every breeze and every glance into the treetops intensifies the experience. Don’t miss this unrepeatable combination of physical minimalism and poetic surroundings.
Sarah Baltzinger and Isaiah Wilson have been working together since 2022. In June 2023, they won an award at the Rotterdam International Duet Choreographic Competition (RIDCC), followed by several others: the XL Production Award, which led to the creation of a new piece for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam in 2025, and four partner prizes with Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), Skånes Dansteater, Sally Dansgezelschap Maastricht, and MAAS Theater En Dans. Since 2024, they have been collaborating with NDT through workshops, labs, and the early stages of artistic projects. That same year, they were selected as Aerowaves Twenty24 artists with their duet MEGASTRUCTURE, which they presented at the Spring Forward festival in Germany.
The performance is part of the international festival TANEC PRAHA 2025.
